UFC Rankings: UFC WELTERWEIGHT TOP 10 BREAKDOWN as of November 2013

Chris breaks down his top 10 in the UFC's welterweight division

UFC Welterweight Rankings as of November 2013

See the Latest Odds

Following UFC 167, which featured 5 welterweight matches, you would think that once the dust has settled we would have a definitive picture of the welterweight landscape. Unfortunately, that is not the case as a controversial decision in which Georges "Rush" St-Pierre was declared the winner, has many people confused. Is GSP retired? Is he going to come back? Will there be a rematch? There are many questions still lingering but the fact remains, GSP is champion and he will remain atop the top 10.

UFC Rankings: UFC WELTERWEIGHT TOP 10 BREAKDOWN as of November 2013

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Champion: Georges "Rush" St-Pierre (25-2)

Winning his last 12 fights, including 9 title defences, there is no doubt that GSP is a true champion. Staying on top of the welterweight division for about 6 years is no easy task, even if you think he lost against Johny Hendricks.

Who he should fight next: Johny Hendricks

#1: Johny "Bigg Rigg" Hendricks (15-2)

A lot of the MMA community agreed, Dana White included, that Johny Hendricks did enough to beat Georges St-Pierre at UFC 167. Two of the three judges did not share that same sentiment and that leaves Hendricks pining for a rematch so he can try and finish the fight and not leave it in the hands of the judges.

Who he should fight next: Georges St-Pierre

#2: Carlos "The Natural Born Killer" Condit (29-7)

Carlos has gone 6-2 in his last 8 fights and the only two fighters he has lost to are Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks. Condit won the interim welterweight champ after beating Nick Diaz at UFC 143, he would go on to lose his next two fights and than came back with an impressive win over Martin Kampmann.

Fighting next: Matt Brown

#3 Matt "The Immortal" Brown (18-11)

Winning his last 7 of 8, including 6 straight, Matt Brown has been making a lot of noise in the welterweight division and will fight in the UFC for the 17th time against Carlos Condit. This fight has title implications all over it and especially with GSP wanting to take some time off, the winner of this fight will be next in line for a title shot.

Who he should fight next: Carlos Condit

#4 Robbie "Ruthless" Lawler (22-9-1)

In his second stint with the UFC, "Ruthless" Robbie Lawler has looked impressive thus far, winner of his last three, Lawler has slowly snuck up in the top 10 after knocking out Josh Koscheck and recently beating Rory MacDonald. Lawler looks like a re-invented fighter and if he continues to win, the UFC won't be able to deny him a title shot.

Who he should fight next: Winner of Condit/Brown

#5 Rory "Ares" MacDonald (15-2)

Before his recent loss to Robbie Lawler, MacDonald had won his last 5 and his only other loss was to Carlos Condit. At 24 years old, Rory has already fought 8 times in the UFC going 6-2, I don't believe the loss to Lawler should affect his stock, as he is still learning and getting better, it also doesn't hurt that his mentor is Georges St-Pierre.

Who he should fight next: Martin Kampmann

#6 Dong Hyun Kim "Stun Gun" (18-2-1)

Quietly stepping up the welterweight ladder has been the "Stun Gun" Dong Hyun Kim, who has won his last 3 fights, most recently knocking out Erick Silva in impressive fashion. The "Stun Gun" was in trouble as Erick Silva caught him early but Silva let his guard down for a second and Kim made him pay for it. Kim has already fought in the UFC 12 times and is looking for a step up in competition, in which a win would get him closer to a title shot.

Fighting next: ?

Who he should fight next: Jake Shields

#7 Jake Shields (29-6-1)

Shields is coming off two victories via split decision over Tyron Woodley and most recently, Demian Maia. Shields, who has fought for the title before, may be making one last push at the title before he retires. Jake has fought in the UFC 7 times since the strikeforce merger.

Who he should fight next: Robbie Lawler or Dong Hyun Kim

#8 Jake "The Juggernaut" Ellenberger (29-7)

Jake is coming off a loss to Rory MacDonald in July, in 11 fights with the UFC (8-3), Ellenberger has beaten the likes of Jake Shields, Diego Sanchez, Jay Hieron, and Nate Marquardt. Jake's losses are to Condit, Kampmann, and MacDonald. If Ellenberger can string together a couple wins he might get close to a title shot.

Fighting next: Tarec Saffeidine

Who he should fight next: Tarec Saffeidine

#9 Demian Maia (18-5)

Since dropping to welterweight, Demian Maia has gone 3-1, most recently coming off a split decision loss to Jake Shields. The Jiu-Jitsu expert has fought for the title once, against Anderson Silva, who embarassed Maia by taunting him and not engaging with him on the ground. Maia has fought in the UFC 17 times and is set to face Erick Silva next, sometime in 2014.

Fighting next: Erick Silva

Who he should fight next: Erick Silva

#10 Hector Lombard (33-4-1)

Although Hector has only one official welterweight fight, I had to put in my top ten because he has looked impressive in his two wins in the UFC. Since signing with the UFC, Lombard has gone 2-2 with 2 decision losses and 2 first round knock out wins. Depending on who the UFC decides to match him up with next, Lombard will continue to rise up the top ten if he keeps knocking guys out cold.

Who he should fight next: Tyron Woodley

That caps off my top ten welterweights in the UFC, now here are some names of some fighters that are rising up and some that are going downhill.

On the way up:

Tyron Woodley (12-2)

Erick Silva (15-4-1)

On the way down:
