USA TODAY Sports
Francisco Trinaldo enters this fight with a 17-4 record and has won 41 percent of his fights by decision. Trinaldo has won five of his last seven fights and is coming off a May win over Norman Parke. Trinaldo is averaging 2.78 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 42.7 percent. Trinaldo is averaging 1.06 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 42.1 percent. Although approaching 37 years old, Trinaldo is extremely strong and has heavy hands that produce knockout power. Trinaldo is very dangerous on his feet and has improved his grappling game, as he has five wins by submission. The issues with Trinaldo are the consistency and the subpar conditioning, as he tends to wear down quite easily, leaving the door open at times for his opponent. This will be Trinaldo’s first career fight in Canada.
There’s potential for an upset here, as Trinaldo can turn this bout on its head if he’s able to land one of those haymakers he often goes for throughout a match. However, Laprise is undefeated for a reason and is fighting in his backyard where he is extremely comfortable. Laprise is also the younger and better conditioned fighter.
Look for Laprise to remain unbeaten.
