Jessica Eye and Julianna Pena fight Saturday night in UFC 192 at the Toyota Center.
Jessica Eye enters this fight with a 11-3 record and has won 64 percent of her fights by decision. Eye has lost two of her last three fights and is coming off a July loss to Miesha Tate. Eye is averaging 4.82 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 38.2 percent. Eye is averaging zero takedowns with an accuracy percentage of zero percent. Eye is one of the better strikers on the women’s side and has incredible hand speed that allows her to get several hits in play. While she doesn’t have a ton of power, Eye mixes up her punches well and always has the advantage on her feet. The concern for Eye is that she has yet to prove she can be just as effective when taken down to the canvas. This is Eye’s second time fighting in Texas.
USA TODAY Sports
Julianna Pena enters this fight with a 7-2 record and has won 57 percent of her fights by submission. Pena has split her last four fights and is coming off a April win over Milana Dudieva. Pena is averaging 7.81 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 46.9 percent. Pena is averaging 5.02 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 100 percent. Pena is a super aggressive fighter who is always on the attack and looking to land something any chance she gets. Pena has had only one fight go past the second round, and she’s proven to be a well balanced fighter who can win on her feet or the canvas. The concern with Pena is that she has been knocked out once in her career already and will have her chin tested here. This is Pena’s first career fight in Texas.
This should end up being a hell of a fight if you like action, as neither woman holds back and loves to land strike after strike. However, Pena has been power behind her punches than Eye, and she is also a better wrestler as well.
I expect Pena to win her third straight fight.
