Shane Campbell and James Krause fight Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 83 in the Consol Energy Center.
Shane Campbell enters this fight with a 12-3 record and has won 42 percent of his fights by knockout. Campbell has won four of his last five fights and is coming off a August win over Elias Silvério. Campbell is averaging 3.47 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 54.7 percent. Campbell is averaging 1.51 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 25 percent. Campbell is an aggressive striker with an impressive kickboxing background that allows him to mix up his offensive attack. Campbell is very accurate and has won three of his last four fights by knockout. The downside is that Campbell isn’t that polished with his grappling game and could be in danger if this fight goes to the canvas. This is Campbell’s first fight in Pennsylvania.
USA TODAY Sports
James Krause enters this fight with a 22-7 record and has won 59 percent of his fights by submission. Krause has split his last six fights and is coming off a July win over Daron Cruickshank. Krause is averaging 4.47 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 43.4 percent. Krause is averaging one takedown with an accuracy percentage of 19.2 percent. Krause is also an aggressive striker, but he’s highly skilled on the defensive end with a 64 percent strike defense. Krause is also highly skilled and comfortable on the canvas considering he has 14 wins by submission. The concern with Krause is that he has lost three of his last five fights, a form that could be hard to back when getting steep odds. This is Krause’s first fight in Pennsylvania.
Krause is the more polished and experienced fighter, as Campbell is still getting his feet wet in terms of UFC, and this is probably the biggest fight of his career. You have to be concerned for Campbell if Krause is able to get him on the canvas, as Krause knows how to finish the fight in a big way.
I’m not big on heavy juice with a fighter who is in bad form, but Krause should be able to win this fight and kind of break out of his funk.
