Rustam Khabilov and Chris Wade fight Sunday at the Ahoy Rotterdam during UFC Fight Night 87.
Rustam Khabilov enters this fight with a 18-3 record and has won 56 percent of his fights by decision. Khabilov has won six of his last eight fights and is coming off a February win over Norman Parke. Khabilov is averaging 1.77 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 30.9 percent. Khabilov is averaging 4.54 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 48.7 percent. Khabilov is staying busy with already his second fight in 2016, as he’s been solid since joining the UFC in 2012. Khabilov is a takedown machine with five submission victories under his belt. Khabilov is known for his takedowns and aggressiveness, but he’s also a very polished striker and is defending 67 percent of strikes. This will be Khabilov’s second fight in the Netherlands.
USA TODAY Sports
Chris Wade enters this fight with a 11-1 record and has won 64 percent of his fights by decision. Wade has won his last six fights and is coming off a January win over Mehdi Baghdad. Wade is averaging 2.35 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 61.7 percent. Wade is averaging 4.62 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 57.8 percent. Wade is also fighting for the second time this year and hasn’t lost since March of 2013. Wade is a wrestler at heart who likes to wear down his opponent and look for takedowns as much as possible. Wade is defending 100 percent of takedowns and is an accurate striker when needed. Two of Wade’s last four victories have come by submission. This will be Wade’s first fight in the Netherlands.
This will be a clash between styles, as Wade wants a fight on the canvas and Khabilov would rather strike standing up. However, Khabilov is probably the more balanced fighter between the two and is capable of wrestling his way to victory if need be. Wade could be in trouble here due to Khabilov’s striking advantage.
I like Khabilov to snap Wade’s impressive winning streak.
