Germaine de Randamie and Marion Reneau fight Saturday during UFC Fight Night 115 at the Ahoy Rotterdam.
Germaine de Randamie enters this fight with a 7-3 record and has won 57 percent of her fights by decision. de Randamie has won five of her last six fights and is coming off a February win over Holly Holm. de Randamie is averaging 3.2 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 47.3 percent. de Randamie is averaging zero takedowns with an accuracy percentage of zero percent. de Randamie hasn’t lost since her 2013 bout with Amanda Nunes and is coming off a fight in which she out struck one of the better strikers in the sport. de Randamie is a polished striker with a deep kickboxing background and feels like she always has the edge when standing up. de Randamie has a limited wrestling game and has never won a fight by submission, but she defends her takedowns well and throws every punch with the intent to end the fight. A true brawler, de Randamie is going to bring the fight to her opponent and test the chin early and often. This will be de Randamie’s second fight in the Netherlands, her birthplace.
USA TODAY Sports
Marion Reneau enters this fight with a 7-3-1 record and has won 57 percent of her fights by knockout. Reneau has split her last six fights and is coming off a March draw against Bethe Correia. Reneau is averaging 3.91 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 40.6 percent. Reneau is averaging 0.4 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 100 percent. Reneau will fight for the fourth time since 2016, and even at 40 years old, she’s still one of the better athletes on the women’s side. Reneau is really solid defensively, as she does a good job of getting in and out with her strikes, and she uses her legs well to keep her opponent honest. While Reneau has just two takedowns in her UFC career, she does display a good ground and pound attack and four of her fights have been won via punches. Reneau is also a tough fighter with a proven chin and all three of her losses have come by decision. This will be Reneau’s first fight in the Netherlands.
This should be a fun fight between two females who use their legs well and are most effective when striking. We should see a lot of activity and a lot of clean shots landed. In terms of picking a winner, I’m siding with de Randamie, as she does have a three-inch reach advantage, has a power advantage in her hands and is better at defending the takedown. I like Reneau’s game, but the size and overall accuracy of de Randamie may be too much. de Randamie also has the crowd advantage with this fight being in the Netherlands.
Give me de Randamie to win this in a tight one.
