Nasrat Haqparast and Marc Diakiese fight Sunday during UFC Fight Night 134 at the Barclaycard Arena.
Nasrat Haqparast enters this fight with a 8-2 record and has won 100 percent of his fights by knockout. Haqparast has won five of his last six fights and is coming off a October loss to Marcin Held. Haqparast is averaging 1.8 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 36 percent. Haqparast is averaging one takedown with an accuracy percentage of 100 percent. Haqparast lost his UFC debut in a decision in which he landed 43 strikes and produced a takedown. Haqparast more than held his own against an experienced fighter who was also fighting on his home soil. Haqparast now hopes to avoid back-to-back losses for the first time in his career. Haqparast is a quality striker with clear knockout power, as all eight of his wins have ended in the stoppage, and he can hold his own on the canvas where he usually resorts to ground and pound. Haqparast is a young soon-to-be-23-year-old fighter who is looking to make a statement with his first career win on the big stage. Haqparast has fought nine of his 10 career fights in Germany, his home country.

Marc Diakiese enters this fight with a 12-2 record and has won 50 percent of his fights by knockout. Diakiese has split his last four fights and is coming off a December loss to Dan Hooker. Diakiese is averaging 2.38 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 39.9 percent. Diakiese is averaging 2.65 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 36 percent. Diakiese went from being an undefeated fighter and a youngster on the rise to hoping to avoid his third straight loss. Diakiese is coming off a fight in which he landed 17 more strikes but was taken down twice and submitted in the third round. Diakiese has shown suspect takedown defense and has just one career submission victory despite a wrestling background. Diakiese is more comfortable with his striking standup, as he can put his boxing and athleticism to good use. Diakiese has produced knockouts in four of his last five wins and does have one punch knockout power in those hands if landed cleanly. This will be Diakiese’s first career fight in Germany.
This is one of the more intriguing fights on the card, as both of these guys are young and promising fighters with balanced skill sets. Both have knockout power and have some ground skills, although they fight differently on the canvas. Diakiese has the edge in athleticism and is more aggressive with his takedowns. Haqparast has more power in his hands and has a 100 percent finish rate. This is close to being a toss-up fight, but I’m going to give the edge to Haqparast. He held his own his UFC debut and is fighting where he’s extremely comfortable and 9-1 in his career.
Give me the German.
