Tecia Torres and Angela Hill fight Saturday in UFC 265 at the Toyota Center. Torres enters this fight with a 12-5 record and has won 83 percent of her fights by decision. Hill enters this fight with a 13-9 record and has won 62 percent of her fights by decision.

Torres has split her last 10 fights, and she’s coming off a December win over Sam Hughes. Torres is averaging 4.30 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 47 percent. Torres is averaging 0.68 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 15 percent. Torres is coming off a first round knockout at UFC 256 where she landed 52 total strikes. Torres now looks for three straight wins for the first time since 2017. Torres is primarily a striker who relies on her black belts in taekwondo and karate, so there’s a lot of stand up striking, combinations and leg kicks. Torres is also a blue belt in BJJ and her ground game has improved over the years. There’s not much finish ability to Torres’ game, as 15 of her 17 fights have gone to decision. Torres has never been finished in her career. This will be Torres’ second career fight in Texas.

Hill has split her last 10 fights and is coming off a March win over Ashley Yoder. Hill is averaging 5.66 significant strikes per minute with an accuracy percentage of 50 percent. Hill is averaging 0.45 takedowns with an accuracy percentage of 36 percent. Hill is coming off a decision win at UFC Vegas 21 where she landed 97 total strikes and produced one takedown. Hill will fight for the sixth time since January of 2020. Hill is a polished striker with a background in Muay Thai and kickboxing, and she has one-punch knockout potential with five career knockout victories. Hill wants a fight standing up where she can use her athleticism and accuracy, and she’s shown very little on the ground at the UFC level. Twelve of Hill’s last 15 fights have ended in decisions. This will be Hill’s third career fight in Texas.

Torres is probably the more balanced striker with a background in taekwondo and karate, but she has little to no finish ability and can make it tough for judges at times. Hill is a scrappy fighter who has had a consistent schedule, has a size advantage and has been the sharper striker throughout the UFC. There’s some good value with Hill and the plus money. I’ll take it.
