The Line: -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
We make our second and final trip to Bristol for the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race, an event that debuted in 1961 and has been called all sorts of things over the years. Of course, night races are my favorite, and we only have a few left on the schedule, so let’s enjoy this one. We’ll obviously enjoy it even more if we can put some cash in our pocket with a trip to victory lane.
Here are five drivers to consider throwing on this week’s card. (Odds weren’t released when this article was posted)

Kyle Busch - I say it every week, but there’s no leaving Kyle Busch off your racing betting card. Busch has not only finished fifth or better in 10 of his last 11 races, but he’s finished in the top-10 in 19 of his last 22 races. Busch is a three-time winner at this event and has won his last two appearances at the Bristol Motor Speedway overall. Busch has also won countless races at this track in both the Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series. Busch is a must bet yet again.
Joey Logano - Joey Logano has finished outside the top-20 in three of his last six races, but that’s usually the time to bet somebody, as oddsmakers tend to show a little disrespect. Logano has won this event two of the last four years and has top-10 finishes in six of his last eight appearances at the Bristol Motor Speedway. Logano has finished no worse than 13th in his last seven appearances at this event. We could see Logano get his second win of the year this weekend.
Clint Bowyer - We’ve had Clint Bowyer on the card quite a bit this season and it hasn’t paid off thanks to just two victories. The good news is Bowyer has been consistent, finishing 12th or better in seven of his last nine races. A bounce here or a bounce there, and Bowyer is much higher in the driver standings. Bowyer has never won a race at the Bristol Motor Speedway, but he has has finished eighth or better in four of his last six appearances, which includes a runner-up spot in the 2017 Food City 500. Maybe Bowyer rewards us for our confidence in him all this time.
Kevin Harvick - Kevin Harvick has now won two of the last four events and has finished fifth or better in eight of his last 10 events. Harvick won this event back in 2016 and has finished no worse than eighth in his last eight appearances at the Bristol Motor Speedway. In his last three trips to this event alone, Harvick has an average finish of 3.6. You’re likely not going to get a big payout betting Harvick this week, but there’s no doubt he has a great chance to put together back-to-back wins, and even a small return is better than none.
Jimmie Johnson - Since I went a little chalky in some picks, I’m going to return to our old friend Jimmie Johnson, who hasn’t won a race in about 14 months. Johnson went from being the face of the sport to struggling to finish in the top-10. Johnson has finished 14th or worse in five of his last six races. The good news is Johnson has had some of his best success at the Bristol Motor Speedway, which includes finishing seventh or better in six of his last eight appearances. In his last four appearances at this event, Johnson has an average finish of 6.5. Could this be the week that ends the drought? It’s worth consideration.
