We make our first and only trip to Indiana at possibly the most famous track in the United States for the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard. It’s the last race before the Cup Championship Playoffs, and we’re due for a victory after some frustrating results this season. So, let’s waste no more time.
Here are five drivers to consider throwing on this week’s card. (Odds weren’t released when this article was posted)

Kyle Busch - Kyle Busch hasn’t gone more than four weeks without a victory since winning the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500, which means he’s due. Even without a win over the last month, Busch has finished seventh or better in 11 of his last 13 races. Busch is also a two-time winner at this event and has finished runner-up or better in four of his last six appearances at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There’s too much favoring Busch this week not to put him on your card.
Jimmie Johnson - Iv’e said a few times this year that I was done putting money on Jimmie Johnson, and I still find a reason to put him on a card a few weeks later. Here we go again. Johnson has done nothing this season, but he has won this event four times and has finished third or better in six of his last 12 appearances at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If that’s not a proven track record and a sign of a positive result to come, I’m not sure what is. There’s a case to be made that this is the race to end the drought for Johnson. I’ll take a shot.
Kasey Kahne - Kasey Kahne has done little to nothing this season to deserve money being thrown his way, but that’s good for bettors considering his odds should be juicy. Kahne is the defending champion at this event and has finished sixth or better in three of his last five events at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If there’s one track that could get Kahne back on track and one week that makes him worthy of a bet, it’s probably this one.
Joey Logano - Joey Logano has been knocking on the door of victory lane for a while now, as he’s improved his finish each of the last three weeks and finished runner-up in Darlington. Logano has top-10 finishes in five of his last seven races. You can expect the impressive runs to continue considering Logano has finished eighth or better in each of his last five appearances at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which includes a runner-up finish in 2015. Consistent results and track history are the keys to picking NASCAR winners, and Logano checks the boxes this week.
Kyle Larson - Kyle Larson was successful at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Xfinity series, and he’s put together top-10 finishes in three of his four appearances here in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. Even with a poor showing here last year, Larson has an average finish of 12th place at this track in four races. When you throw in top-three finishes the last two weeks and top-10 finishes in five of his last nine races overall, Larson is a strong consideration this week.
