Brickyard 400 – 7/5/20 NASCAR Cup Series Pick, Odds, and Prediction

We head to Indiana for the NASCAR Cup Series Sunday for the Brickyard 400.

We handed out another winner last week with Denny Hamlin cashing at +770 odds at the Pocono Organics 325. It’s only right we keep the money piling up as we celebrate a holiday weekend.

Here are five drivers to consider throwing on Sunday’s card.

Kyle Busch, +495 – Kyle Busch is due for a bounce back performance after forgettable showings in two of his last three races and finishing outside of the top-10 in three of his last five races. In three of Busch’s last six appearances at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, he’s either won or finished runner-up. Busch has won this race two of the last five years, and h has countless other victories at this track in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Busch is a strong contender to get his first win of the season.

Kevin Harvick, +440 – I don’t like throwing out a bunch of favorites in these articles and bigger payouts are always what I’m hoping for, but Kevin Harvick is a must play this weekend. Harvick is the defending champion at this event and he’s won it twice in his career. Also, Harvick is averaging a finish of 4.6 in his last six trips at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Harvick’s consistency at this track the last several years can’t be ignored when putting together a betting card.

Joey Logano, +1250 – Joey Logano is another driver due for a bounce back performance after finishing 17th or worse in his last four races. Logano hasn’t looked good since Virginia. The bright side is that Logano was the runner-up at this race last year and has finished eighth or better in six of his last seven appearances at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Logano is averaging a finish of 5.8 during that span. This is a nice value play if you’re looking for a bigger payout with an actual chance to cash a ticket.

Clint Bowyer, +3300 – Clint Bowyer has quietly put together top-10 finishes in back-to-back races, easily his best stretch of the season and a bright spot moving forward as he looks for his first win in a couple years. Bowyer should like his chances to build on this stretch after finishing fifth at this race back-to-back years and in the top-10 in three of his last five trips at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway overall. Bowyer is a nice dark horse with these odds.

Jimmie Johnson, +5500 – After it looked like Jimmie Johnson was going to be competitive this year, he’s finished 10th or worse in each of hi last five races. At this point it seems like wishful thinking to include Johnson on betting cards these days. With that said, Johnson has won this race four times in his career, which is second all time only behind Jeff Gordon. Johnson also had a runner-up finish here in 2013 and a third place finish in 2016. I’ll keep trying to squeeze something out of Johnson each week, hoping he gets one more victory before he hangs it up.
