The Memphis Grizzlies head to San Antonio on Wednesday to face off against Parker and the San Antonio Spurs.
The San Antonio Spurs had a tremendous season last year, until ultimately falling to the Heat in seven games in the Finals. The Spurs are expected to once again be challenging for the championship as the Spurs have one of the best coaches, and the most talented rosters in the league. Parker returns for the Spurs again this season, and after averaging better than 20 points per game and 7.6 assists per game, Parker once again looks to lead this talented Spurs offense. Duncan also had a great season last year, averaging nearly ten boards per game. The Spurs have to once again be one of the favorites to return to the Finals again this season, and at home, this team is nearly unbeatable at times.

The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off an excellent season, going 56-26 last year. The Grizzlies had a great season, but ultimately were done in by the Spurs in just four games in the Conference Finals. Memphis, like the Spurs is considered to be one of the top contenders this season; however repeating last season’s success won’t be easy. The Grizzlies got where they did last season thanks to their outstanding defensive play. The Only question I have with this Memphis team is whether or not they can score enough points offensively, if the game turns into a shootout.
The Grizzlies have gone over the number in four of their last six games, and the total has also gone over in seven of the last nine road games for Memphis. The Grizzlies are just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games against the Spurs. San Antonio has gone over the number in five of their last five home games, and the Spurs are 5-1 overall in their last six games at home.
I’m going to have to take the Grizzlies in this spot. Early on in the NBA I have found the most value is watching line movements, and fading the majority when it presents itself. Here the Spurs have received approx. 93 percent of the bets offshore, but the line has still dropped from SA -5.5 to SA -5. I know this is the home opener for the Spurs, but both teams may be rusty shooting from the floor, and getting points with the better defense looks like the play here to me.
