The Los Angeles Clippers will be hoping to register their first win of the season when they play host to the Golden State Warriors tonight.
The Clippers looked poised to kick off their season with a comfortable win over Kobe-less Lakers in their season opener, but fell victim to a ferocious 28-8 run by the Lakers' bench players. Chris Paul led the way with 15 points, 11 assists and five steals, while DeAndre Jordan filled the stat sheet with 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks and three steals, but the Clippers allowed the Lakers to pour in 41 fourth-quarter points in the 116-103 loss. On a side note, Steve Blake stepped into the starting lineup for Steve Nash who is expected to sit out second nights of back to back sets this season.

The Warriors must have played against a different Lakers team because it was nothing but a preseason game for them last night when they opened their season with a big 125-94 win. David Lee had 24 points, eight boards and five assists, while Stephen Curry added just 10 points, but this game was all about Klay Thompson who scored a game-high 38 points on 15 of 19 shooting from the field, including five of seven from the three point line. Andre Iguodala added just seven points in his first official game as a Warrior, but tonight will offer a better look at his fit in the team given that he only played 28 minutes last night.
In ATS trends, the Warriors are 6-1 ATS in the last seven meetings against the Clippers and 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings at the Staples Center.
It was really uncharacteristic for a team coached by Doc Rivers to crumble in the fourth quarter against a shorthanded team like the Lakers, but it's only the first game of the season so let's not get too critical. Meanwhile, the Warriors will be excited with their tremendous start to the season and I expect them to carry some of that energy into tonight's game against the Clippers. I don't expect the Warriors to win this one, but it's hard to resist taking them with the points here.
