The New Orleans Pelicans head to Orlando on Friday to face off against the Magic.
The Orlando Magic are sitting at 0-2 on the year, but the Magic have had a tough opening slate, starting the season at Indiana, and then heading to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves. The Magic gave Minnesota everything they could handle on Wednesday, finally falling in OT to the T-Wolves, 120-115. The Magic fell behind early to the Timberwolves, but the Magic came back strong, especially in the fourth quarter, allowing the game to go to overtime. Even in a loss, it’s encouraging to see some fight in this team, especially after all the turmoil last season. Leading the way for the Magic against the Timberwolves was Afflalo, who finished the night with 28 points, while Vucevic was also a strong contributor for Orlando, finishing with 22 points and sixteen rebounds against the Timberwolves on the night.

The New Orleans Pelicans have gotten off to a sour start to their season as the Pelicans fell in their opener to the Pacers on Wednesday, 95-90. New Orleans played Indiana very tough, taking a commanding first half lead, only to give it up in the second half. Still, this team was outclassed by the Pacers on the night, and to see them get out of the gate like that, is a good sign…just remember though, the season is young. The Pelicans got a strong outing from Eric Gordon, who led New Orleans with 25 points on the night. Their big man, Anthony Davis was also solid against the Pacers, recording 20 points and 12 rebounds for the double double.
The Pelicans are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and the total has gone under in six of the last nine games for New Orleans. The Magic are just 6-15 against the spread in their last 21 home games, and the Magic are 1-7 against the spread when hosting the Pelicans.
This Magic team is still a little ways off, but overall I like what I see from Orlando for the future. Orlando has played two good teams tough on the road, and even thought the Pelicans played the Pacers tougher than the Magic did, this is the home opener for Orlando, and look for this Magic team to try and get this win in front of their home crowd, trying to instill some confidence back in them. Not a real strong play for me, but I like the Magic in this spot.
