Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks play host to the Memphis Grizzlies at the American Airlines Center tonight.
A loss to the Spurs isn't quite how the Grizzlies wanted to start their season but they've bounced back nicely with a narrow 111-108 overtime win against the Pistons. Even trailing by as many as six points in the final minute of regulation, the Grizzlies refused to give in, forcing overtime on a late tip-in by Marc Gasol and using that momentum to seal the win in the extra period. Gasol finished with just 15 points, but Mike Conley led the team with 22 points while Zach Randolph and Tony Allen added 16 points apiece. With the win, Memphis improved to 41-4 when scoring at least 100 points.

Conversely, the Mavericks were unable to keep their momentum going, losing to the Rockets by 113-105 last night after winning their season opener against the Hawks. Dirk Nowitzki led the team with 22 points before fouling out and Monta Ellis added 20 points, but there was just no stopping the Rockets' James Harden who scorched them for 34 points. As a team, the Mavs shot just 38 percent from the field, but the problems were on the defensive end where they just couldn't seem to keep pace with the Rockets who were allowed to pour in 38 points to 22 in the first quarter which really set the tone for the game.
In ATS trends, the Grizzlies are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a win but just 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall, while the Mavs are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games playing with a rest day and 23-6 ATS in their last 29 games following an ATS loss.
At this early stage of the season, the Grizzlies are looking like the better team but playing without rest after an overtime game may bring the fatigue factor into play so I'm taking the Mavs at home in this one.
