The Minnesota Timberwolves are off to a strong start this season, but it doesn’t get any easier, as the T-Wolves head to the Garden on Sunday to square off against the Knicks.
The New York Knicks are sitting t 1-1 this season after falling to their rival, the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, 82-21. The Knicks played the Bulls tough, but Derrick Rose did his thing, hitting what would be a game winning jumper with just a few ticks remaining on the clock. There has been some talk in Knick-land that Carmelo will be leaving this team via free agency at the end of the year, but ‘Mello came back saying that he wants to retire a Knick. I don’t think it will much, but it will be interesting to see in the future if this kind of talk continues, and if it does, will it affect the Knicks on the court. New York played the Bulls tough on Thursday, with Anthony leading the Knicks on the floor, with 22 points on the night. Chandler had the best plus/minus for New York on the night however, finishing with seven points, and 19 boards against the Bulls.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were banged up pretty bad a year ago, and now that they are healthy, they are showing us what kind of team they can be. The Timberwolves are 2-0 to start the season, winning their last game against the OKC Thunder on Friday, 100-81. The Timberwolves are playing very balanced basketball to start the season, averaging 110 points per game, while allowing 98 on average. Only two games into the season however, I don’t put as much emphasis on season stats and more on situations…but still this is an impressive start for Minnesota.
The Timberwolves are 4-1 overall in their last five games, but the T-Wolves are just 1-4 overall in their last five games against the Knicks. The Timberwolves are also just 1-4 against the Knicks in their last five games at the Garden. The Knicks are 2-4 against the spread in their last six games, and the total has gone under in seven of the last nine for the Knicks at home.
I’m going to take the Timberwolves in this spot. I know the trends don’t support it, but the Timberwolves are playing very well to start the season, and while the Knicks are as well, I just can’t see giving this many points to a Minnesota team that has a very real shot of winning outright against the Knicks on Sunday.
