Houston Rockets vs. Toronto Raptors - 11/11/13

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Rockets started the season all guns blazing, but since have dropped two on the trot and three of four as they continue to struggle on the defensive end. Houston, who was one of the worst defensive teams in the league last season, were expected to improve greatly in that area with the addition of Dwight Howard, however, that hasn’t really been the case lately. Over their last four games, the Rockets opponents are averaging 111 points on 45 percent shooting and 39.1 percent from beyond the arc. In their 107-94 loss to the visiting Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, just five days after a 137-118 blowout loss to them, the Rockets looked like they were going to get payback but they gave up an 11-point lead in the third-quarter as the Clippers went on a 18-0 run to take control of the game for good.

The Toronto Raptors ended their three-game skid in style on Saturday night by posting their biggest win of the young season, trouncing the winless Utah Jazz 115-91. It was a much needed win for a Toronto squad that has struggled on the offensive end to start the season, failing to score over 100 points in a game before Saturday night. The Raptors are also ranked second-worst in the NBA in assist per game, dishing out just 17.3 dimes per game.

These two teams have changed a lot of the years, but one commom theme when looking at their past results is the dominace shown by the home team as it has won every game dating back to 2009. In fact, eight of those meetings were decided by nine points or greater. In any case, neither team is playing great basketball at the moment, but I you have to think this is a great spot for Houston to get back on track as they are coming off consecutive home losses. I'm not a fan of this Raptors squad at all and even though there is always the chance of a back door cover, I think the Rockets bounce back with a double-digit victory...
