The Detroit Pistons head to the Oracle Arena on Tuesday to face off against the Golden State Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors are sitting at 4-3 on the season, thanks in large part to their strong defense. Yes, I said defense with Golden State. The Warriors offense is still really, really good, averaging 102.6 points per game, but defensively the Warriors are holding opponents to just 96.3 points per outing. The Warriors have had a tough road so far, but things start to lighten up for the Warriors a bit in the near future. Golden State is led offensively by Klay Thompson, who is scoring an impressive 20.4 points per game on the year so far.

The Detroit Pistons are known for their defense, but so far this season; it’s the offense that’s getting it done for the Pistons. Detroit currently has the 12th ranked offense in the league, scoring an average of 102 points per game. Detroit is in the middle of a tough road stretch where they have to head to Los Angeles to face the Lakers, the Kings in Sacramento and of course Golden State tonight. The Pistons are far from a dominant team, and this stretch they are in the middle of right now, will be a huge test for this Pistons team.
The Detroit Pistons are 3-3 against the spread this season, and on the road, the Pistons are 1-1 against the number. Detroit is also 1-1 against the spread on the year when they are coming off game where they have allowed 105+ points. When facing teams with a winning record this season, the Pistons are 0-3 against the spread.
The Golden State Warriors are a solid 4-2 against the spread this season, and as a favorite, the Warriors are 2-0 against the number. Also, while playing at home this year, the Warriors are 1-0 ATS. When playing against teams that are averaging 99+ points per game, the Warriors are a perfect 3-0 against the spread this season.
I’m going to play the Pistons in this spot. Golden State is by far the better team here, but I like the way Detroit matches up with the Warriors. The Pistons are physical inside the paint, where they should be effective against the Warriors, getting some easier looks. The Pistons also look to have the advantage on the boards, and getting almost double digits, with the rebounding and inside game advantage is just too good to pass up here.
If you are going to play this one, I would expect the public to jump on the Warriors at home, so the closer you wait until tip, the better chance you'll have at getting double digits with the Pistons I would think.
