The Houston Rockets head to New York on Thursday to face off against the Knicks.
The New York Knicks are currently sitting at 3-4 the season, following a solid win on the road last night against the Atlanta Hawks. The Knicks defeated the Hawks 95-91 thanks in large part to Bargnani, who finished the night with 20 points and 11 boards. Shumpert finished with a +15 on the night for the Knicks, giving him the highest +/- ratio for New York. The Knicks have been getting it done with their defense this season, currently ranking ninth in the league, allowing 96.9 points per game on average.

The Houston Rockets are in the black currently, as the Rockets are sitting at 5-4 on the season. The Rockets fell to the Sixers last night in Philly, losing to Philadelphia 123-117 in overtime. Houston has an outstanding offense, scoring an average of 107.3 per game this season, but defensively the Rockets are really struggling. With the addition of Howard, you would expect Houston to be good on the boards, and they of course are, ranking first in the league, grabbing 48.1 rebounds per game.
The Houston Rockets are 3-4 against the spread this season, and on the road, the Rockets are 2-1 against the number. When playing in non-conference games this season, the Rockets are 0-1 against the spread currently. Also, when playing against a team with a losing record, the Rockets are 1-2 ATS, and the total is 1-2 to the under.
The New York Knicks are 2-4 against the spread this season. When playing at home, the Knicks have really been a tough play, going 0-4 against the spread on the year. When The Knicks are playing against a team with a winning record, New York is just 1-2 against the spread this season.
I'm going to have to play the Knicks in this spot. We still aren't quite certain whether or not Harden will be in tonight for the Rockets, but Stoudamire will be for the Knicks, and that's huge. Even if Harden does play tonight I look for him to be somewhat limited on minutes, and with him being the leading scorer on the team, that is a tough blow.
Close game and should be a fun one to watch on Thursday.
