The Atlanta Hawks look to bounce back as they host the surprising Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
Head to head, the 76ers are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Atlanta while the road team is 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings and the underdog is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings. The Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, but just 6-13 ATS in their last 19 vs. Eastern Conference and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games. The Philadelphia 76ers on the other hand are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games playing on 1 days rest and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
The Atlanta Hawks had their two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night by a desperate New York Knicks sqaud,
going down 95-91 to fall back to .500 for the season. Atlanta, who came into Wesnesday's game as the top scoring team in the Eastern Conference under new head coach Mike Budenholzer, were held to a season-low 91 points on 45% shooting, which included going 5-24 from beyond the arc. In fact, it was the first time in eight games this season that the Hawks had been kept to under 100 points. Atlanta has also done a good job of sharing the ball so far as they are dishing out 27.3 assist per game, which is the second best number in the league.
The Philadelphia 76ers managed to pull off yet another amazing victory as they helf off the visiting Houston Rockets on Wednesday night en route to a thrilling 123-117 overtime win. This time the 76ers were led by a pair of relativly unkown players in James Anderson and Tony Wroten. Houston had no answer for Anderson as he scored a career-high 36 points while Wroten made his first career start in place of the injured Michael Carter-Williams and he didn't disapoint, recording a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists to lead Philly to their fifth win of the season.
While Atlanta is a solid team, I don't think they should be this high a favorite against a 76ers team that has shown they are capable of knocking off some pretty good teams. Philly has the talent to hang with the Hawks here and they should...
