The Golden State Warriors look to make light work of the Utah Jazz on Saturday from Oracle Arena.
Head to head, the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings while the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Warriors are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record, 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 home games and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall. The Jazz on the other hand are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
I'm not sure if anyone ever reads the above against the spread stats, but they are pretty alarming for Utah in this matchup. The Jazz have only covered in two of their last nine games overall and in none of their last six road games. On the other hand, the Warriors have covered in seven of their last 11 at home and 18 of their last 25 overall.
Ok, so where do I start with the Jazz. Let's forget the fact that they are 1-9 overall and lets just concentrate on their road games thus far. Needless to say, it hasn't been a pretty site for Utah away from home as they have dropped their five games by average of 15.4 points and are coming off a 24-point beat-down in Toronto in their last road outing. The Jazz have been average at best on the defensive end, but they have really struggled to score as they are averaging just 84.6 points on 38.6 percent shooting away from home.
On the flipside, the Warriors are a perfect 4-0 at home this season after their thrilling 116-115 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. If you take away their win over the Thunder, they have won their other three home games by an average of 20 points, which spells trouble for the Jazz tonight.
Given everything I just said above, I don't see how you can not take Golden State in this one. The Jazz just can't score on the road and they should have a hard time keeping up with fast-paced Warriors tonight...
