Two struggling teams collide tonight as the Milwaukee Bucks play host to the Brooklyn Nets.
Head to head, the Nets are 2-14 ATS in the last 16 meetings and 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Milwaukee while the road team is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the favorite is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings. The Bucks are 20-42 ATS in their last 62 home games, 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. win and 20-42 ATS in their last 62 games overall. The Nets on the other hand are 12-30-1 ATS in their last 43 road games vs. a team with a losing home record, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Can someone explain to me why the Brooklyn Nets are three-point road favorites against the Milwaukee Bucks tonight? The Nets shouldn't be road favorites against anyone in the league at the moment. They virtually have the same record as the Bucks, they are both 6-13 against the spread on the season and both have only won the two home games to date.
The only difference is that Milwaukee hasn't looked all that bad this past week, winning two of four over including last night's 109-105 overtime win in Washington. Meanwhile, Brooklyn is coming off consecutive home losses to Denver and New York by an average of 27 points. That wasn't a typo, they fell to Denver by 24 and then lost by 30 against a Knicks team that had lost their previous nine games.
The Bucks are an average team at best, but I don't think they are nearly as bad as their record would suggest because they have had so many injuries during the first month and a bit of action. The Nets have also been injury ravaged and they still are without Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and Andrei Kirilenko.
I don't see why anyone would waste their money on Brooklyn as road favorites here. There is every chance they cover, don't get me wrong, but this team is just an absolute mess at the moment. I'm not sure how the Bucks respond off an overtime win on the road just last night, but I have to take the points in this one...
