The Utah Jazz returns home to face the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.
Head to head, the Kings are 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings and 21-8 ATS in the last 29 meetings in Utah while the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Jazz are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points. The Kings on the other hand are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400 and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games, but just 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
I really liked the Utah Jazz last night in Portland catching the Trail Blazers in a bit of a letdown spot after two massive home wins, but it wasn't to be. Portland couldn't miss from downtown, litterally, as they made 17 of 23 shots from 3-point range for 73.9 percent, an NBA record for a team with at least 20 attempts. What can you do? I also liked the Jazz because they had been playing their best basketball of the season prior to Friday night, winning three of their previous five which included an impressive win over the Houston Rockets.
What more can you say about the Sacramento Kings? It seems like we have seen the same crappy team for the last five years. Following their 106-100 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers last night, the Kings have now dropped six-straight and fell to 4-13 on the season. Sacramento is just bad at pretty much everything and the statistics back that up as they are ranked 19th of worse in points, points allowed and rebounds per game.
It's hard to get excited when you are dealing with average teams, but Utah looks like one of the better plays on the board tonight in my opinion. Sure they got pounded last night, but so would have the Kings if they have faced a Portland team that wouldn't miss from beyond the arc. The Jazz have recent home wins over Houston and Chicago while playing Indiana neck-and-nack for three qaurters. With Trey Burke back, I think Utah is going be a pretty tough out at home from now on....
