The Sacramento Kings welcome Vince Carter and the Dallas Mavericks to town on Monday night.
Head to head, the Mavericks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings while the home team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings. The Kings are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, but just 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 vs. NBA Southwest. The Mavericks on the other hand are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road game vs. a team with a losing home record and 26-9 ATS in their last 35 road games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Just when you thought the Sacramento Kings were finally turning things around, they go and supposedly trade for Rudy Gay and his bloated contract. Don’t get me wrong, Gay is a definite upgrade over anyone they currently have at small forward, but his decline the last couple of seasons has been well documented and he has one of the worst contracts in the entire league. Gay is owed 17.9 million this season and he has a player option next year for a whopping 19.3 million, which he will obviously pick up. I kind of get why they made the move, because they have sucked for a while now, but I just don’t think you are going anywhere with Gay as one of your two of three best players, especially in the Western Conference. Why didn’t they just play this season out and hope to strike gold in what is supposed to be one of the best drafts of all time? Bad move Sacramento, bad move.
It’s good to see the Dallas Mavericks over their recent form slump as they come into tonight’s game riding a three-game winning streak and are coming off one of their best wins of the season on Saturday night as they defeated the red-hot Portland Trail Blazers 108-106. More importantly, they have won back-to-back games on the road, somewhere they have struggled in the first month and a half of action. The Kings are also coming off a win in their last outing in Utah on Saturday which broke a six-game losing streak.
It’s hard to look past the Mavs in this one. While they haven’t been great on the road so far this season, they are coming off two impressive wins at New Orleans and Portland which should give them a lot of confidence heading into tonight’s game. They are also 26-9 against the spread in their last 35 road games compared to Sacramento who has covered the spread in just three of their past 12 at home...
