The Charlotte Bobcats seek their third straight victory tonight as they play host to the slumping Orlando Magic.
Head to head, the Magic are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings and 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Charlotte while the road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Bobcats are 5-0 ATS in the last 5 games overall, 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games playing on 1 days rest and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record. The Magic on the other hand are 9-22 ATS in their last 31 vs. NBA Southeast, 11-26-1 ATS in their last 38 game vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall.

I was originally leaning towards taking the under here, given that the Orlando Magic have been held to 88 points or under in four of their last five and the fact that the Charlotte Bobcats are statistically a top five defensive unit. But Charlotte’s recent offensive explosion (by their standards) scared me off , plus when I looked further into it, the Bobcats have been playing really well at home lately. That hasn’t always been the case this season, but the soon to be Hornets (hooray) are coming off an impressive 115-111 victory over the visiting Golden State Warriors on Monday night to extended their home winning streak to three games.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic come into tonight’s game riding a six-game losing streak with their last five all coming away from home. As I mentioned earlier, the Magic just can’t find any consistency on the offensive end as they have been the worst team in the entire league at that end of the floor over the past two weeks. If you take away their 125-126 double-overtime loss at Philadelphia out of the equation, you will find they are only averaging a measly 85.4 points over their last five contests, which makes the Bobcats looks like the Houston Rockets.
I don’t think I would invest my hard earned money on this game, because remember we are still dealing with Charlotte here. But I just don’t see how you can look past the fact that the Bobcats have won three straight at home by an average of 12 points per game. Now Orlando has to turn things around sooner rather than later, but they have been on the road for the whole of December thus far and it doesn’t fill me with a heap of confidence that they can’t even get close to scoring 100 points at the moment....
Dan’s Pick: Charlotte -6
