The Detroit Pistons head to Indiana on Monday to face off against the Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers are once again among the elite in the NBA this season, as the Pacers are 20-3 at this point. Indiana has the top rated scoring defense in the league, holding opponents to an average of just 89.5 points per game this season. The Pacers have won four out of their last five heading into Monday’s meeting with the Pistons, earning a win last time out, defeating the Bobcats at home on Friday 99-94.
The Detroit Pistons are sitting at 11-14 this season after the Pistons suffered a tough loss to the Trail Blazers on Sunday, falling to Portland 111-109 in overtime in Detroit. The Pistons held with the Trail Blazers in the first half, and then came out hot after the break, but Portland was able to answer, forcing extra frames, where Portland proved to be too much for the Pistons. With this loss, the Pistons have now dropped four out of their last five, but the Pistons have won three out of their last four road games.
Detroit is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and the Pistons are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the Central division. The Pistons have gone over the total in four of their last four games when playing off of no rest and the over is 5-0 in the last five Monday games for Detroit.
The Indiana Pacers are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, and the Pacers are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games with two days’ rest. The favorite is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games between the Pistons and the Pacers.
It may seem like the obvious move here, but I’ve got to take the Pacers. Detroit is completely over matched here, and even though the Pistons played well against a good Portland team on Sunday, I think that will result in more of a letdown for Detroit, rather than confidence.
The Pacers are lights out at home, and I see things being no different here on Monday as Indiana should easily handle the Pistons.
