The surging Portland Trail Blazers head to Cleveland to take on Kyrie Irving and the Cavaliers on Tuesday night.
Head to head, the Trail Blazers are 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Cleveland while the road team is 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall, but just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Trail Blazers on the other hand are 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
What more can you say about the Portland Trail Blazers? Not only are they the most entertaining team in the league, but they come into tonight's showdown with the league's best record at 21-4 thanks to the Indiana Pacers loss last night. Portland also ranks first in the NBA in points per game at 107.9 and they are in the top six in both rebounds (45.6) and assists (23.6) per game. The Trail Blazers have covered the spread in 18 of their 25 games thus far and they are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 road games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
While the Cleveland Cavaliers have been among this seasons early disapointments, they have actually been rock solid at home having won four straight and seven of 10 overall. What's more impressive, those four wins came against Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles (Clippers) and New York by an average of nine points per game. Their defense has been key in their recent home wins as they have held those opponents to just 89 points per game, which is impressive considering we are talking about the Nuggets and Clippers here.
It's not overly wise to go against the league leaders and hottest team in the NBA, but that's what I'm doing here. I think Portland is due for a road loss and truth be told, they really should of gone down in Detroit on Sunday night. The Cavs are hot at home and I could see this one coming down to the last shot. The matchup between Kyrie Irving and Damien Lillard should be a great one....
