The Detroit Pistons head to Boston on Wednesday to face off against the Celtics.
The Boston Celtics are sitting just below the .500 mark currently, as Boston is 12-14 on the year. Boston’s record is far from great, but still the Celtics lead the lowly Atlantic division by one game over the Toronto Raptors. The Celtics are playing well defensively this season, holding opponents to 95.8 points per game, and if Boston could find some kind of offensive consistency, the Celtics should have no problem controlling the division.

The Detroit Pistons, like the Celtics are sitting at 12-14 this season, but unfortunately for Detroit they are in the Central division with the Pacers, so even in second place the Pistons trail the Pacers by nine games. The Pistons are just 2-3 overall in their last five games heading into Boston, but the Pistons did get a nice win in their last outing, defeating the Pacers in Detroit 101-96 on Monday. The question is, can the Pistons carry that momentum and confidence over to this game against Boston, on the road?
The Detroit Pistons are 8-1 against the spread in their last nine games against teams in the Atlantic division, and the Pistons are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games on the road. The Pistons are also 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an ATS win.
The Boston Celtics are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, and Boston is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games overall. The Pistons are 6-0 against the spread in their last six games against the Boston Celtics overall, and the under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between Boston and Detroit.
I’m going to give a slight edge here to the Celtics. I’m finding it tough to put a ton of backing behind either team here, and personally this is a game I am laying off.
Having to choose though, I’ll take Boston with the better defense, at home over Detroit. The Pistons are just not that great of team this season, and I expect somewhat of a letdown performance here against Boston, after a solid win at home earlier this week against Indiana.
