The Charlotte Bobcats head to Detroit on Friday to face off against the Pistons.
The Detroit Pistons are currently trying to find their way to the .500 mark, as the Pistons are sitting at 13-14 overall this season, while going a somewhat disappointing 6-8 on their home floor this season. The Pistons have a respectable record this season, and are in second place in the Central, but still the Pistons trail the Pacers by eight games. Detroit is famous for their defense, but the offense has been what is carrying the Pistons this season, as Detroit is ranked 16th in the nation currently in scoring offense, putting up an average of 100.2 points per game.

The Charlotte Bobcats are playing much better ball this season, as the Bobcats are currently just two games below the break even mark at 12-14. Charlotte is also playing well on the road this season, going 5-6 on the road. The Bobcats have a suffocating defense this year, holding opponents to 92.7 points per game on average, ranking the Bobcats second in the league currently.
The Charlotte Bobcats are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games when their opponent scores 100+ in their previous game, and the Bobcats are 9-1-1 against the spread in their last 11 games on the road. Charlotte is also 8-2 against the spread in their last ten games overall. Charlotte is also playing well as of late on little rest, going 4-1 against the spread in their last five games after just one day off.
The Detroit Pistons are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games following an outright win, and the Pistons are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six games going up against a team with a losing record. The over is 4-0 in the last four games of this series in Detroit, and the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings between these two teams overall.
With all the trends in this series pointing to the over, I feel the odds makers have been a bit aggressive in setting this line.
The value here to me looks to be on the under, and that is where I’ll be on this one come Friday night. The Bobcats defense is outstanding, and if the Pistons are going to get the win, they probably don’t want to try and just run the floor on the Bobcats. Look for a slower pace in this game, which should keep the scoring down.
