The Houston Rockets have to travel to Indiana on Friday to face off against the Pacers.
The Indiana Pacers are on a tear this season, going 20-5 this season, and currently the Pacers hold a solid eight game lead in the division. Indiana as well all know by now has one of the elite defenses in the league this season, as the Pacers are allowing just 90.2 points per outing. Indiana, despite their strong record has dropped two in a row heading into Friday’s matchup with the Rockets. Last time out the Pacers fell to the Miami Heat in Miami 97-94. This is obviously a game the Pacers wanted to have, but falling to the Heat on their home floor isn’t exactly a disgrace.

The Houston Rockets started out the season on fire, putting on an impressive offensive show. The record for the Rockets has dipped somewhat as the season has gone on, but still, Houston is ranked second in the league in scoring offense, putting up an average of 107.1 points per game on the year. The problem is defense. The Rockets are allowing 101.9 points per game this season, ranking Houston 24th in the league currently. The Rockets are still within reach of the Spurs however, trailing San Antonio by just 3.5 games at this point.
The Houston Rockets are 4-0 against the spread in their last four games on Fridays, and the Rockets are 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the Eastern Conference. Houston also plays well against solid completion, going 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games against teams with a winning record.
The Indiana Pacers are 9-0 against the spread in their last nine games when playing on one day of rest, and the Pacers are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games against the Southwest. The Pacers are also 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against teams with a winning record.
I'm going to have to take Indiana in this one. The Rockets offense can be scary good at times, but this is a tough spot for Houston. The Pacers have dropped two in a row heading into this game, and now Indy gets to go up against one of the worst defenses in the league on their home court. Look for the Pacers to try and make a statement here on Friday at home.
