The Line: Portland Trail Blazers -9 -- Over/Under: 210.5 See the Latest Odds
The Portland Trail Blazers return home to face Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night from the Rose Garden.
Head to head, the Pelicans are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings and 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Portland. The Trail Blazers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. loss and 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games overall. The Pelicans on the other hand are 26-8-1 ATS in their last 35 games following a SU loss of more than 10 points, but just 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 vs. Western Conference and 7-19 ATS in their last 26 road games.
I apologize for the shortness of this article, but I'm not feeling well so I'm going to cut straight to the chase.
Am I crazy taking the New Orleans Pelicans here? Last time I went against the Portland Trail Blazers at home they set a then record for three-pointers made and defeated the Utah Jazz by a lazy 32 points. Not only that, but they are also coming off a pretty bad loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday to conclude their four-game road trip.
That is one of the reasons I do like the Pellies tonight, because the Trail Blazers are coming off a road trip and teams tend to never really play well in their first game back.
As far as NO is concerned, they are coming off three straight road loss all by nine points or greater. Having said that, Anthony Davis is finally back as he made his return in their 108-95 loss against the Clippers on Wednesday, scoring 24 points and pulling down 12 rebounds off the bench.
Again, not really a wise move to go against Portland at home coming off a loss, but this is a gut feeling more than anything else. I could look like a fool for taking the Pelicans, but I'm willing to take my chances..
