The Indiana Pacers travel to Brooklyn on Monday night to face a Nets team looking to avoid their third straight loss.
Head to head, the Pacers are 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings and 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings in Brooklyn while the road team is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings and the favorite is 16-6 ATS in the last 22 meetings. The Nets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall, but just 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. The Pacers on the other hand are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 18-7 ATS in their last 25 games overall.
Just when it looked like the Brooklyn Nets were on the verge of making a run up the Eastern Conference standings, they go and lose Brook Lopez for the season and losses in three of their last four games has seen them fall to 9-17 overall, a number no one would have predicted at the start of the season. The Nets don't even have a winning record at home as they have lost seven of 12 at the Barclays Center, not just straight up but against the spread as well.
After suffering back-to-back losses, the Indiana Pacers have bounced back with consecutive blowout wins over Houston and Boston by a combined 60 points. While there scoring has been up over the last month, their defensive numbers have dripped, but that's mostly to do with the level of competition as the Pacers have faced some of the better offensive teams of late. However, in their past two victories, Indiana held the Rockets and Celtics to below 82 points apiece.
The Nets and Pacers have already square off in Brooklyn earlier this season and it was the visitors who came away with a hard fought 96-91 victory. Indiana was led by Paul George's game-high 24 points while the Nets had four players finish with 15 points or more.
I don't see how anyone goes against the Pacers here and feels good about it. Yes, Indiana is playing in a back-to-back and this will be their third game in four nights, but they are still a top three team in the league and it also helps that they have covered in 10 of their 13 road games to date. I might feel differently is Lopez was playing, but he isn't...
