Lebron James and the Miami Heat welcome the Atlanta Hawks to town on Monday night.
Head to head, the Hawks are 16-37 ATS in the last 53 meetings and 7-20 ATS in the last 27 meetings in Miami while the road team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings and the favorite is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Heat are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games playing on 2 days rest, but just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. The Hawks on the other hand are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games playing on 2 days rest, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. Eastern Conference and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.
While the under has dominated this series for a while now, both the Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks come into tonight's game red hot on the offensive end. The Hawks are coming off a 118-85 win over the visiting Utah Jazz on Friday night and they are averaging 115.5 over their last four contests. Meanwhile, the Heat poured in 122 in their comfortable victory over Sacramento on Friday night and have topped 110 points in four of their last six. In the two they didn't, they were both against the Indiana Pacers, who have the best defensive unit we have seen in some years.
Now these two teams met in Miami in the middle of November and it wasn't a high scoring game at all as the Heat cruised to a 104-88 win. However, that was at a time when the Hawks went in a slump offensivley, for reasons still unknown. Atlanta opened the season up scoring over 100 points in nine of their 10 first games, but then after that loss in Miami, the Hawks didn't get to triple figures in each of their next six contests, not including the Heat game. Since that time however, ATL has gone over the 100 point plateau in nine of their last 10.
With their recent offensive surges, it's easy to see how the over is a combined 9-0 in their last nine overall. The over is also 6-0 in Heat last six home games and 19-7 in Hawks last 26 road games.
Needless to say, I feel pretty good about the over here...
