The Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons square off from the nations capital on Saturday night.
Head to head, the Pistons are 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Washington while the favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Wizards are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. loss, 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games playing on 0 days rest and 25-12 ATS in their last 37 home games. The Pistons on the other hand are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and 13-5-2 ATS in their last 20 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record, but just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
Both the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons were really bad in their respective games last night, I should know I took them both on the free site. Washington travelled to Minnesota on the back of three straight road wins and they looked like the Wizards of old, falling 120-98 in what was a very average performance to say the least. Detroit, who had been the hottest road team in the league over the last couple of weeks, having won seven of eight which included wins at Miami and Indiana amongst others, went down in Orlando 109-92 to a Magic team coming off three straight home losses.
Were the Wizards and Pistons due for losses last night? Sure, hindsight would suggest so. But that's why predicting NBA games can be so hard sometimes because you can get performances likes these from time to time. As far as tonight's game goes, I think this is an even money bet in my eyes and i'll be looking at a total instead.
You wouldn't think of it because of their superior size, but Detroit is a really bad defensive team and they have only gotten worse as the season progresses and not the other way around. The Pistons gave up 109 points to the offensively starved Magic last night and have allowed teams to average 107.5 points against them during their last 10 outings. Detroit has also been scoring at a high clip recently as they have averaged 104 points over their last nine games. That would explain why the over has hit in 23 of their 31 games to date. The over is also 16-10 in Washington's contests this season and they are in a nice groove offensivley at the moment with everyone healthy as they have poured in a shade under 105 points over their last four games.
These two teams met at the start of the season and the game finished on 215 total points. I'm not sure if we get that tonight, but we should go over 203...
