The Orlando Magic face off against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors to close out the year.
Head to head, the Warriors are 1-5 ATS in the last 6 meetings and 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Orlando while the home team is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The Magic are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, but just 17-35 ATS in their last 52 home games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 vs. Western Conference. The Warriors on the other hand are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.
The Christmas break seemed to do the world of good for the Orlando Magic who are coming off two straight wins over Detroit and Atlanta after dropping the first three of their six-game home stand. Scoring has been a difficult proposition for Orlando this season, however, they managed back-to-back 109 point outings in their recent victories, shooting better than 52 percent from the floor on both occasions, albeit against two poor defensive teams in the Hawks and Pistons.
Scoring has never been an issue for the Golden State Warriors, who come into tonight's game riding a five game winning streak after their 108-104 overtime win in Cleveland on Sunday night. Surprisingly, the Warriors only rank 11th in points per game at 103.1, but they do however rank 10th in points allowed at 98.9. They have been especially hot over their last three outings, pouring in a shade under 110 points per game.
It has to be noted that Orlando has won eight of the last nine meetings between the two, while covering in seven of those. Yes, Dwight Howard was around for most of those meetings, but he wasn't last season when the Magic swept the season series 2-0, winning both by an combined 22 points.
I have to admit, I quite like this Orlando team with Tobias Harris back fit and contributing. Golden State is a formidable opponent no doubt, but they are still an average road team and I think the Magic can stick around in this one...
