The Los Angeles Clippers welcome the Charlotte Bobcats to town as they battle it out on New Years Day.
The Clippers have lost three of their last four and capped off 2013 with a real disappointing 107-88 home loss against the surging Suns. It was a real lackluster performance from the Clippers as they uncharacteristically started the game slow, falling behind by 9-0 in a blink of an eye, before heading into halftime trailing by 61-40. Jamal Crawford and Blake Griffin led the team with 15 points each while Chris Paul added 11, but the reserves were given an extended run because this game was long gone midway through the third quarter. With the loss, LA fall to 21-12 overall and 13-3 at home.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats have lost four of their last five and will be looking to avoid a fourth straight loss after falling to the young Jazz by 83-80 on Monday. In a real grind-out game, Gerald Henderson led the team with 19 points, while Al Jefferson and Kemba Walker added 18 points apiece, but with the game on the line, the Jazz turned to Trey Burke who delivered on a clutch layup which sent the Bobcats to 14-18 on the season and 6-8 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss of more than 10 points, while the Bobcats are 6-0 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Head to head, the Bobcats are just 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall but the road team is 11-5-1 ATS in the last 17 meetings.
For whatever reason, the Clippers just didn't look like themselves in their blowout loss against the Suns in their own building, but I fully expect them to bounce back tonight. I know they're laying a lot of points which scared me at first, but they just got embarassed at home and will be looking to take out their frustration on the struggling Bobcats.
