The Brooklyn Nets collide with the Atlanta Hawks from the Barclays Center on Monday night.
Head to head, the Hawks are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings while the underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Nets are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record. The Hawks on the other hand are 34-16-1 ATS in their last 51 games playing on 1 days rest, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
Is it time for the Brooklyn Nets to finally make their push up the Eastern Conference standings? Coming off two straight victories which includes a super impressive win in Oklahoma City, as well as 11 of their next 17 games at home, this could very well be the start of the turn-around for a Nets squad that has been one of the biggest disappointments so far this season. Not to mention, everyone is finally fit and healthy except of course Brook Lopez, who will be missing for the rest of the season with a foot injury.
The Atlanta Hawks are also without their star big man for the season as Al Horford injured his pectoral muscle in their 127-125 overtime win in Cleveland the day after Christmas. The Hawks have gone 2-3 without their star big man and are coming off back-to-back losses to Golden State and most recently in Chicago on Saturday night. Paul Millsap has stepped up big time in Horford's place as he is averaging 20.3 points and 10.6 rebounds over his last 10 outings and given his teal real precense down low.
Atlanta has been three point underdogs in two of their last three games and both of those contests were decided by a single point, so the Hawks are still a formidable outfit without Al Horford. Still, they haven't been great on the road all season long and I kind of getting the feeling with everyone finally back, we might see the Nets start to improve pretty dramatically. Not in love with this one by any stretch, but I think Brooklyn pulls this one out in the end..
