The rising Toronto Raptors hit the road to face Paul George and the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.
Head to head, the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Indiana while the road team is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings and the underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings. The Pacers are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 home games, 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 35-17 ATS in their last 52 games overall. The Raptors on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
I don't think there is any doubt that the Toronto Raptors are currently the third best team in the Eastern Conference behind the Miami Heat and tonight's opponent in the Indiana Pacers. The Raptors have looked like a sure-fire playoff team in the East since shipping Rudy Gay off to Sacramento as they have won 10 of a possible 14 games while covering the spread in 11 of those contests. Also, three of those four losses came against last season's NBA final participants in Miami on Monday and then against the San Antonio Spurs twice.
Now the Indiana Pacers haven't been doing to bad themselves as they currently own the league's best record at 27-6. Indiana rarely seems to lose at home these days as they have won 16 of 17 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and more importantly they have covered the number on 12 of those occasions. The Pacers are also the league's premier against the spread team, covering in 23 of 33 games this season. What more can you say, this is one of the top three teams in the NBA with little to fault.
The Raptors recent surge also includes a dominant 95-82 win over the visiting Pacers to open the New Year. This was after Indiana's 91-84 victory over Toronto back at the start of November. The Raptors have now covered in four of their last five meetings.
It's tough to go against Indiana at home, but the Raptors are playing such good basketball at the moment that I simply can't ignore this many points..
