The first time I saw the line for this game, I knew I was going to take the under. It took me all of 2.7 seconds to come up with that conclusion and nothing has changed now that I’ve looked further into things. As far as picking a side goes, no thanks as the Jazz have only covered the spread in two of their last eight home games while the Cavaliers are a putrid 5-14 against the spread in their last 19 road games.
Both the Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers are actually coming off impressive offensive performances, but don’t let that fool you. The Jazz put up 112 big ones in their impressive win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night, but remember that this team had only topped 100 points in one of their previous 11 contests. Since the middle of December, Utah has only averaged a measly 93 points per game, which puts them right at the bottom of the league for that time period. For the Cavs, they managed 111 points in their last outing on Tuesday, but that was against a Philly team that is giving up 110 points per game. Get this, in Cleveland’s previous four games, they had averaged just 80.7 per game and that includes one overtime period. Now Kyrie Irving was missing for three of those contests, but still.
Like I said at the start, I have no interest in picking a side for this game, but the under looks like a viable option. 100 points is an achievement for both of these offensively challenged teams these days and I just don’t so either reaching that tonight. Luol Deng is making his Cavalier debut tonight, which should upgrade their offense, only slightly because he still needs to learn their system, but he will also be an upgrade defensively. Give me the under here thanks..
