The Boston Celtics head to Portland on Saturday to face off against the Trail Blazers.
The Portland Trail Blazers are one of the better teams in the league this season, at least as far as record goes, as the Trail Blazers are currently sitting at 27-9 on the year. Portland is currently locked in a battle with the Thunder for first place in the Northwest division. The Trail Blazers have the top scoring offense in the league right now, putting up an average of 109.1 points per game this season. My only real concern for this team is the play of their defense. The Trail Blazers have been winning more shootouts than I feel comfortable with as I just don’t know if this is a team that can withstand a playoff run, as defense is at a premium come time for the post season. Currently the Trail Blazers have dropped two out of their last three, with their last win coming at home against the Magic on Wednesday 110-94. With Boston being in a rebuilding season, and the Trail Blazers having plenty of rest here, look for Portland to try and take advantage of this one.

The Boston Celtics are without a doubt in a rebuilding season as the Celtics are just 13-24 overall on the year. Boston’s offense is scoring just 95.1 points per game and is one of the worst scoring offenses in the league currently. Leading this offense is Jeff Green, who is putting up an average of just 16.1 points per game. The Celtics have dropped seven straight heading into this meeting with Portland, with their latest defeat coming on Friday at the hands of the Warriors, 99-97,
Boston is just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games on Saturday’s and the Celtics are just 1-4 against the spread against teams with a winning record.
Portland is 5-1 against the spread in their last six games against the Atlantic division, and the Trail Blazers are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 against teams with a losing record.
Have to take the over here. The Trail Blazers should roll this Boston team with little trouble, but this is just a ton of points. I think the odds makers are being a bit cautious with the number here, giving us a little room above the total.
