The New York Knicks look for their sixth straight victory tonight as they face the Charlotte Bobcats from the Queen City.
Head to head, the Knicks are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings while the road team is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The Bobcats are 12-2 ATS in their last 14 vs. NBA Atlantic, but just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Knicks on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 0 days rest and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
The Charlotte Bobcats and New York Knicks might have near identical records, but they are certainly heading in different directions. While the last two months of 2013 was one to forget for the Knicks, things are all of a sudden looking up in the New Year as they have won six of eight and five straight after their 98-96 overtime win over the Phoenix Suns at home last night. Thanks to a very weak Eastern Conference, New York currently sits in eighth spot after their recent flurry of wins, kicking the Charlotte Bobcats out at the same.
Speaking of Charlotte, 2014 hasn't been kind to them so far as they have lost five of six and eight of nine overall. That once stout defense that the Bobcats displayed at the start of the season has taken a big hit since Christmas as they have allowed an average of 106.8 points over their last 10 games. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has been missing on the defensive end and could return tonight after missing the last couple of weeks.
I'll be taking the Knicks here, but their are some things that concern me. The main one being that this will be the third game in four nights for New York and they also needed overtime to dispatch the Suns last night. They are clearly playing better than Charlotte at the moment, but the Bobcats haven't played since Saturday night, so they should be nice and rested. Having split the season series at one game apiece, I'm going with the hotter team here and frankly, I just trust the Knicks more than the Bobcats...
