The Portland Trail Blazers welcome Kyrie Irving and the Cleveland Cavaliers to town on Wednesday night.

I was originally going to lay the points with Portland in this one, but after further research, I’m going to take the over, which actually looks pretty strong. The Trail Blazers don’t really need any introduction as they are the league’s premier offensive team, pouring in a whopping 109.1 points per contest. The over has hit in 27 of their 37 games this season and more importantly, the over has gone 14-5 in their games at the Moda Center. Just on this, it’s going to take me a while to get used to not calling it the Rose Garden anymore. While the term ‘Rose Garden’ didn’t really instil fear into any opposing team, I still feel like it was one of the better stadium names out there. Back onto the task at hand, the over is also 55-22-1 in Portland’s last 73 games overall for what it’s worth.
The last time I took the Cleveland Cavaliers to go over the total they burned me by scoring just 80 points as they end up losing by a whopping 44, which was in Sacramento on Sunday night. For those that care, not many I’m sure, the over/under line was set at 205 and the total ended up at 204. Anyhow, if you take away that 80 point game against the Kings away, they have scored over 110 points in their last three matches and are coming off a 120-118 win in Los Angeles last night against the Lakers.
I read somewhere recently that Kyrie Irving was telling everyone how the Cavaliers want to pick up the pace and run a lot more now that Luol Deng is on the team, which is half the reason I took them to go over the total against the Kings. Considering they just torched LA and put up 113 and 111 points prior to that Kings game, maybe they are going to push the pace from now on? Oh, and did I mention that their first meeting on the season finished on 236 total points? Consider this, 19 of Portland’s last 24 games have gone over 208.5 total points...
