As soon as the lines were released for this game I knew I was going to take the over and nothing has changed after looking into things further. Since that infamous 19-point second half against the Oklahoma City last Thursday, the Houston Rockets have responded with back-to-back double-digit wins over the Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers in which they put up 114 and 126 points, respectively. Against Portland, the Rockets were on fire from the get-go as they poured in 37 first quarter points and ended up going 16-33 from beyond the arc. Including that 92 point effort against OKC last week, the Rockets have been in a nice groove at home lately as they have averaged 107.3 points over their last nine home games.
As far as the Sacramento Kings are concerned, they are slowly becoming an offensive powerhouse and the numbers back that up as they have topped 100 points in 14 of their last 17 contests. What’s more important when looking at tonight’s game is that 11 of those games finished on totals of 210 points or greater and the over is 8-2 in their last 10 matches away from home and 17-7 overall. With DeMarcus Cousins doing DeMarcus Cousins things, Isaiah Thomas going for 20 points a night and Rudy Gay actually playing efficient basketball, Sac-Town looks like a dangerous team all of a sudden.
These two teams met recently in Houston and it was the Kings who came away with a 110-106 victory. For those who can count, that’s 216 total points and had that been the score tonight, the over would have scraped in by half a point. In fact, Sacramento has also defeated the Rockets at home this season 106-91, although that was Houstons third straight road game in four nights.
I have a feeling tonight is going to be the highest scoring meeting between these two teams this season. Houston has looked really good since that meltdown against the Thunder and Sacramento can go off for 115-120 on any given night. I doubt it happens, but I could honestly see a 127-121 type score-line tonight...
