Is it just me or have the Washington Wizards been hovering and .500 for the entire season? It sure feels like it. Surprisingly enough, they come into tonight’s clash with a record of 20-20, however, they have won four of their last five games which includes that impressive 114-97 victory over the Miami Heat at home last week. I want to say great things about Washington, but the truth is they are just an average team. They have talent, don’t get me wrong, but they aren’t particularly great on offense or defense. They are probably the 15th best team in a 30 team league.
The Boston Celtics continue to pile up the losses as they suffered yet another one last night in South Beach, going down 93-86 to Lebron James and company. The Celtics have hung around in a handful of games, but they just can’t seem to get across the line as they have only won the single game so far in January when they took down the visiting Toronto Raptors last week. The good news, Rajon Rondo had a successful return to the hardwood last night against the Heat, even if he was scoreless in 25 minutes of action, going 0-8 from the floor.
Boston has actually been pretty good in their last five road games despite losing all five. They have faced Los Angeles (Clippers), Golden State, Portland, Orlando and Miami and their average losing margin was just five points in those contests. Having said that, I won’t be taking them in this one for two main reasons. Firstly, this will be there third straight road game in four nights and secondly, they will be short-handed as Avery Bradley, who was injured in last nights in Miami, and Jarryd Bayless are expected to miss. Not only that, but Rondo is clearly rusty after such a long layoff and he hasn’t played with a lot of these new Celtics players yet.
I would stay away from this game personally because I could see the Wiz winning this by either somewhere between 4-10 points...
