The Denver Nuggets head to Portland on Thursday to face off against the Trail Blazers.
The Portland Trail Blazers have had an awesome season so far, having a record of 31-11 on the year. Portland has been in first place of their division for most of the season, but just lately the OKC Thunder has overtaken them, and now the Trail Blazers trail the Thunder by 1.5 games. Portland has survived this season on their offense, which currently ranks first in the league, putting up an average of 109.3 points per game on the year. Portland has been solid, but the Trail Blazers have dropped two in a row heading into Thursday’s meeting with the Nuggets, falling to the Rockets and the Thunder, both on the road to end a tough four game road stretch.

The Denver Nuggets head to Portland on Thursday to face the Trail Blazers. The Nuggets are currently right at the .500 mark on the season, owning a record of 20-20 this season. The Nuggets have a solid offense, but the defense for Denver has been an issue, as the Nuggets are allowing 102.8 per game on the year. Portland’s defense isn’t great either, but the Nuggets don’t have the offensive punch the Trail Blazers do to make up for it. Denver, like Portland has dropped two straight heading into Thursday night’s meeting, losing games at home against the Cavs, and then on Sunday against the Suns on the road 117-103.
The Denver Nuggets are just 2-8 against the spread in their last ten games following an outright loss, and the Nuggets are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games on the road, when facing at team with a winning record on the season.
The Trail Blazers are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight Thursday night games, and the Trail Blazers are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the Northwest division. Portland is however just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven when playing on just one day of rest.
This is an incredibly high total posted on this game, but I don’t see it being high enough. Look for both the Trail Blazers and the Nuggets to light up the scoreboards here as Portland has dropped two straight and will be gunning for the win, and if the Nuggets are going to keep it close, they will have to push offensively as well, which they should have success doing against this Portland defense.
