NBA Player Updates 1/24: Heat and Trail Blazers Win, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
January 24, 2014
After a very light schedule last night (two games), the NBA will be getting back to it this evening, with a whopping 13 games on the slate. Before we get settled in and wait for those tip-offs, let’s take a closer look at who’s making headlines this morning. Here’s the latest.
Chris Bosh, PF, Miami Heat: After a strong first half, the Heat were able to hang on and defeat the Lakers last night. Bosh led the team in the 109-102 victory, posting 31 points, six rebounds and a nice 15-of-22 line from the floor. Miami is 8-0 all time when Bosh takes at least 20 shots, so maybe he should pull that proverbial trigger a little more often.
The Heat have won four of their last five to make it 31-12 on the season so far. Two more home games left on this current stand: Sunday against the Spurs and Jan. 29 against OKC.

LaMarcus Aldridge, PF, Portland Trail Blazers: Maybe we should recount those All-Star Team votes. Aldridge was an absolute beast last night against the Nuggets, posting a career-high 44 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two blocks in a 110-105 victory. He now has at least 25 in his last six straight games, and just seems to be getting more dominant with each outing.
The win stops a two-game skid for the Blazers and puts them at 32-11. They’ll host Minnesota tomorrow before hitting the road to face the Warriors on Sunday.
NBA Statistical Leaders: It’s been a while since we’ve checked out the stats column in the NBA, and with last night’s thin schedule, this morning seems like a good time to revisit the numbers. Here’s a snapshot of the current leaders in some of the key categories around the league.
Points Per Game: Kevin Durant, OKC (31.0)
Rebounds Per Game: DeAndre Jordan, LAC (13.9)
Field Goal Percentage: DeAndre Jordan, LAC (64.1)
Assists Per Game: Chris Paul, LAC (11.2)
3-Point Field Goal Percentage: Marco Belinelli, SAS (49.3)
Steals Per Game: Ricky Rubio, MIN (2.66)
