Washington and Golden State will be a matchup between two of the younger, more promising teams in the NBA on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, neither team has been all that hot over the last week or so.
The Warriors have surprisingly lost four of their last six games and have really been struggling on the defensive end. We know the offensive firepower is unreal, but allowing teams to score 103 points and shoot 46.3 percent during the last five games isn’t going to cut it. Golden State must get back to playing good basketball on both ends of the floor if it hopes to be taken seriously as a legit contender in the Western Conference.

Washington has lost three of its last five and will be playing its third straight road game. Nene Hilario is really playing well recently, shooting 53.3 percent and averaging 18 points per game in his last three contests. Add that to the lethal shooting of John Wall and Bradley Beal, and it’s no wonder why Washington has a 14-8 against the spread record on the road. That’s right. Washington may not win many games straight up, but it’s a team that can certainly help fatten your pockets.
In the matchup earlier this year, Golden State won 112-96 thanks to shooting above 50 percent from the field. And while there’s a good chance that could happen again, I just don’t like the way the Warriors have been not showing up defensively. It’s the reason they’ve lost a few games they probably shouldn’t have, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Washington was able to do the same if those defensive issues continue to linger.
The Wizards have already beaten a few solid teams as of late such as Chicago twice, Miami and Phoenix. Don’t be surprised if they manage to at least keep this contest closer than the odds makers thought.
