Saturday’s matchup between the New York Knicks and Miami Heat should be a lot more enjoyable than the first time they met this season. In the previous contest, the Knicks won pretty convincingly with a 102-92 win.

Although the Knicks went on a bit of a cold streak after that win thanks to injuries and what not, they’re currently riding a four-game winning streak and Carmelo Anthony is playing some of his best basketball of the season.

Miami Heat at New York Knicks - 2/1/14

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

In New York’s last five games, they’re shooting an unbelievable 53.5 percent from the field, which is nearly an eight percent increase from the league average in that time span. They’ve improved their defense, holding three teams under 100 points in their four wins and are getting more consistent play from point guard Raymond Felton, who has a combined 17 assists in the last two games.

The Heat were embarrassed by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. They couldn’t hold a commanding first half lead, turned the ball over 20 times and allowed OKC to drain 16 three pointers.

Is Miami back to coasting or is there a real issue with this team that we should be concerned about?

Like the line, it’s hard to put a finger on exactly what the problem is with the Heat. When they look interested they dominate, when they look like they rather be somewhere else it gets really ugly.

I’m not sure which Miami team is going to show up, which is why I’m taking New York and the points. The Heat are only 13-9 against the spread on the road and 2-3 in their last five road games. Meanwhile, New York is 4-0 against the spread in its last four games and 8-1 against the spread in its last nine following an against the spread victory.

Also, Miami is 1-4 against the number in its last five games against the Knicks.

We know the Knicks will show up and the Garden will be packed. Getting points on top of that makes this is a solid bet for Saturday night before the Super Bowl.
