The Los Angeles Clippers will play only their fourth home game in just under a month when the Miami Heat fly across country. The Heat are finally showing some consistently by winning five of their last six and the Clippers are coming off a heartbreaking last-second loss to the Denver Nuggets.

These two teams met back in November and the Heat won 102-97 thanks to 29 points from Dwyane Wade.

Speaking of Wade, he’s been on fire recently, scoring 67 combined points in his last three games and racking up 11 assists. He hasn’t looked like the old player who is playing on bad knees, but of course that could change at any moment. In fact, the Heat are shooting 53.2 percent in their last five games and averaging 105 points. They’re starting to look like the Heat team of old where the “Big Three” lead the way and the rest of the guys chip in when needed.

The Clippers aren’t too far behind, as they’re shooting 49.2 percent in their last five games. Blake Griffin is really playing inspired basketball, scoring at least 25 points in eight of his last nine contests. Defensively, the Clippers have come a long way, holding teams to just 100.4 points per game of the season. In their last five games they’re holding teams to just 44.7 percent from the field.

This is really a toss-up game between two championship contenders that are playing solid basketball. But ask yourself how many times you’re going to get the Heat at a pick em price. The answer is not very often.

Miami continues to play the top teams in the league extremely well and has won the last two meetings against the Clippers. Meanwhile, Los Angeles has lost to Indiana, Charlotte, Golden State and Denver in recent weeks. Without Chris Paul, I like my chances even more.

I’ll take Miami at this price every time.
