The Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks will meet for the fourth and final time this season on Monday night. The Bucks lead the series 2-1 with the Celtics winning the most recent matchup back in early December.
Boston just had its three-game winning streak snapped on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. In that game the offense shot just 35.9 percent from the field and scored 91 points, which were the lowest in five games. The Celtics have been playing much better ever since Rajon Rondo has returned from injury, as the star point guard has had double-digit assists in three straight starts. The team is 25-25-1 against the spread this season and 14-11 ATS on the road.

The Bucks have lost two straight and eight of their last nine games. Easily considered the worst team in the NBA with a 9-41 record, they’ve only won two games since the calendar changed to 2014. In just their last five games, the Bucks are shooting just 42.2 percent from the field and allowing opponents to shoot 47.8 percent. They’ve allowed more than 100 points in six of their last eight games. Milwaukee is 19-31 against the spread and 8-16 ATS at home.
At this point you’d be absolutely insane to back the Bucks even as home dogs. They’re clearly tanking for the NBA draft lottery and are 17-35 ATS in their last 52 home games. Meanwhile, Boston is playing with a lot more energy as of late, has covered three of its last five games and is 8-5 ATS on games with no rest.
This game could really go either way, but I feel a lot more comfortable backing a team that still has a little pride left. The Bucks are already looking ahead to next season.
Take Boston and the small chalk.
